En realidad este invento está muy bien pensado, podríamos llegara a decir que es hasta inteligente. La idea es cubrir tu zapato con una especie de calcetín grueso, así te olvidas de que se rompan las costuras o de que se hagan agujeros en tu zapatilla.
¿El problema? Nos guste o no, sobra la tabla, la apariencia y el estilo dicen mucho de un skater y no nos podemos imaginar a ningún pro con esos calcetines que hace que tus skate shoes parezcan zuecos.

Lanzado en 2010, Street League Skateboarding ( SLS ) es una serie competitiva internacional de skate profesional. La liga cuenta con 25 patinadores profesionales de calle que compiten por el mayor premio monetario en la historia del patinaje, ^[1] y fue fundado por el patinador profesional y empresario Rob Dyrdek . SLS es la primera liga profesional de patinaje de calle.

SLS introdujo el ISX (Instant Scoring Experience) en eventos competitivos de patinaje.  El formato único de puntuación puntúa cada truco de forma independiente, en contraste con todos los otros concursos profesionales que califican en la impresión general de una carrera completa o una serie de trucos realizados dentro de un determinado período de tiempo.  ISX es una asociación entre MXi, Dialsmith y SLS. 

California Skateparks diseña y construye los cursos de SLS.

¿Quién inventó el skate?

El skate se inventó en el año 1963 por Mickey Muñóz ( Mickey Muñoz fue un surfista ) y Phil Edwards ( surfista ) en Santa Monica, California.

El skate se inventó como sustituto a la tabla de surf en tierra. Quitaron las ruedas a unos patines y se las pusieron a una tabla de madera. En un primer momento el skate se llamaba Surf Roll. El skate es un deporte que consiste en deslizarse sobre una tabla con ruedas y mientras hacer trucos elevando la tabla del suelo y haciendo figuras con ella en el aire.

Creado a partir de una variacion del surfing ha desarrollado una gran atracción e interés para muchos, y suele ser un reclamo publicitario para los jóvenes (skaters o no). Sobre los que patinan, un reportaje del año 2002 para la American Sports Data estimó que había 40,5 millones de skaters en todo el mundo; siendo el 84% menores de 18 años, de los cuales el 74% eran hombres y el 26% mujeres.
